Slivnitsa 50

The name of the building is inspired by its location in Varna - the country's maritime capital and the architectural project's essence. As a symbol of modernity and construction innovation, as a dream come true and an aspiration to merge symmetry, perfection and standard.

Concept

The concept of the premium project realizes a mixed-function building reflecting two aspects - the plasticity of the facade, inscribed in urban planning parameters of an ideal centre of Varna, and the integration of biophilic design. Through biophilic design principles, Slivnitsa 50 achieves a sustainable connection of natural elements and processes in the built living environment - the vertical vegetation, the touch of natural light and the air circulation.

The total volume of the building is divided by horizontal white prisms – balconies, interrupted in some places by cubic container pots with evergreen trees along the entire height of the facades, similar to Morse code. Thus, the complex situation is harmoniously mastered, and the direct contact with nature on the high floors is emphasized.

Exterior

Slivnitsa 50 introduces a contemporary building concept achieved through dynamism in geometry, bright spaces, the selection of natural, high-quality materials, architectural elements and bringing nature into the environment.

The building's angular opening creates an airiness and sun protection blind, giving relaxation and orderliness.

The suspended facade is a fully ventilated system of fibre cement panels with a vertical grid in the sand and white tones. The culmination of intersecting shades, like two peculiar fluids, elegantly accentuates the overall orthogonal structure and contributes to the balance in the building's vision.

Interior

The interior of Slivnitsa 50's common areas is a kind of overflow of the facade, conveying spaciousness, tonality, and raster through the concept of naturalness, lightness, and connection with nature - from the outside to the inside.

Vegetation Verticals

The evergreen Prunus Laurocerasus, also known as the laurel tree, is suitable for year-round cultivation and adapted to the Black Sea climate. It is synonymous with prosperity, light, joy and victory, and its choice is conceptual for the project.

The facade facing Slivnitsa Blvd., which is the face of the building, is the most developed and landscaped. The tectonics and vertical landscaping gradually decrease in the remaining facades along Ivan Drasov Street and from the inner courtyard.

Historical archive

The plot's first fortress deed dates from 1886, and the second from 1908 - years in which Varna society actively overcame the political crisis after The Unification of Bulgaria and rejoiced at the long-awaited Declaration of Bulgaria's independence.

The owner is Mr. Petrovich, whose name will remain in the archives as the uncle who adopted the daughter of his sister and Mikhail Shipkov. Mikhail Shipkov was convicted in 1950 by the authorities as a "spy". He is Bulgarian, born on May 1, 1911, to a wealthy family that traded in rose oil. He graduated from the famous Robert College in Istanbul. After the Second World War ended, he worked in the British Section of the Allied Control Commission and then - as a translator in the American Legation in Sofia.

His contemporaries, relatives, and heirs tell about his vicissitudes, intelligence, honesty, and love for family and homeland. Over the years, at the insistence of several domestic and foreign authoritative media, including Free Europe, Time Magazine, New York Herald Tribune, and 24 Chasa, documents have been declassified, opinions collected, and events have followed till the present day. The history of these families, the founders of modern Bulgaria and the freedom of the people are remembered, as well as the lessons of the past.
